The HKFC Rugby Section is pleased to announce the appoint of Ben Siffleet as Men’s Club Coaching Officer (CCO), arriving at HKFC with an impressive coaching pedigree spanning community, performance, and representative rugby across New Zealand.
Siffleet’s appointment follows the well-deserved promotion of Logan Asplin to Head Coach of the Hong Kong China Rugby Men’s XV ahead of their 2027 Rugby World Cup campaign
Andrew Durutalo, Director of Rugby Operations expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment:
“I am delighted to confirm the appointment of Ben Siffleet as our new Men’s CCO at Hong Kong Football Club. Ben joins us from Taranaki Rugby where he served as a Coach Development Lead & Community Rugby Support, bringing with him not only a wealth of elite coaching experience but also his credentials as a World Rugby Coaching Educator. His expertise, professionalism, and passion for the game will be invaluable as we continue to drive the performance and development of the Club forward.
“We are confident that Ben’s leadership will strengthen not only our Men’s XV but also enrich the wider HKFC rugby community. His arrival marks an exciting new chapter for our club, and we look forward to the impact he will make both on and off the field.
“I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Logan Asplin, whose promotion to the HKCR Men’s XV is richly deserved. Logan’s commitment and contribution have been instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition, and his efforts have set the stage for Ben to step into the role with clarity and momentum. Together, we look forward to building on our proud traditions and striving for even greater success.”
Paul Skurr, Chairperson of HKFC, added:
” I am thrilled with the appointment of Ben Siffleet as our new men’s head coach, following the well-deserved promotion of Logan Asplin. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Logan for his outstanding contributions, particularly in our domestic success and his support for [Hong Kong China’s] recent World Cup qualification. Ben brings a wealth of experience and a strong coaching pedigree from New Zealand, and we are excited for him to continue fostering the positive culture that has been key to our achievements. Welcome aboard, Ben!”
Logan Asplin, who transitions to his new role as HKCR Men’s XV Head Coach, welcomed his successor:
“Congratulations to Ben for his appointment as the new CCO of Hong Kong Football Club. It’s awesome to see another coach take their first role in full-time coaching and I am sure Ben will continue the success of the club over the last few seasons. He’s already shown his proactive and dedicated approach and I look forward to seeing him settle and shine in the role.”
Speaking about his new role, Ben Siffleet said:
“I am thrilled to join the Hong Kong Football Club as the Club Coach Officer. I have felt warmly welcomed by the club’s fantastic community. I am excited to work with a talented group of players who demonstrate both passion and commitment to rugby and the club. The strong history of the club inspires me, and I look forward to contributing to its ongoing success. I would like to thank Logan for all his support and wish him all the best in his next move with the Hong Kong China Men’s XV.”
The appointment strengthens HKFC Rugby’s coaching structure alongside the recent arrival of USA Eagle Charli Jacoby as Women’s Club Coaching Officer, positioning the club for continued success across both its men’s and women’s programmes.
Ben will take up his position immediately and will lead HKFC Natixis Club through the remainder of the season and beyond.
Welcome to HKFC Rugby, Ben!
