With Rugby Sevens at the 2024 Paris Olympics beginning on the 24th of July, we’re recapping our very own Olympic-themed celebrations at HKFC!
On June 14th, we collaborated with our title sponsors, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) to take part in “Olympic Day”. The event was designed to celebrate the Olympic values of excellence, respect, and friendship through a range of sports activities and games.
Employees from Natixis CIB and Natixis Investment Managers were divided into 4 mixed teams, with each team moving through different mini stations featuring Volleyball, Rowing and Touch Rugby Sevens. At each station, the teams competed for points whilst also receiving coaching on new skills by our very own pro coaches (Logan Asplin, Steve Jones, Fion Got & Roshini Turner).
Following the event, all attendees gathered for lunch and an awards ceremony in the Lockhart Room. We awarded prizes for:
- Most Valuable Player (MVP) for each sport
- The Winning Team
- Olympic Spirit
As part of the awards ceremony, HKFC Player & Hong Kong China dual international Pierce Mackinlay-West delivered an inspiring speech about how integral Natixis’ sponsorship has been to his rugby career. As a product of HFKC Rugby’s youth system, Natixis has helped Pierce gain opportunities to perform on the international stage – notably, Pierce had the opportunity to train at the Racing 92 (also sponsored by Natixis CIB) Academy in Paris as a 17-year-old.
