We are thrilled to announce Stephen Dowse as our Director of Rugby for the 2022/23 season and beyond!

Stephen will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role from all over the world. This includes a great understanding of Hong Kong Rugby after working for the HK Rugby Union from 2014. Stephen was a key and guiding figure of the HKRU pathways programmes for developing youth players, including four years as the Head of Elite Player Development.
Prior to joining HKRU and since working there, Stephen has worked in the fields of sports marketing, sports apparel, sports education and sports club management all of which are relevant to his new role.

Welcoming the appointment of Stephen Dowse to take over from Cameron McIntosh as Director of Rugby, HKFC Rugby Section Chairman, Ian Petersen, said

“Our Rugby Section has been fortunate to have had the services of an excellent Director in Cameron McIntosh over the past five years. Together with our previous Head Coach, Jack Wiggins, Cameron has helped to shape and grow our Section into the strong body that we now are.
“We are pleased to have secured the services of Stephen Dowse as our new Director. We look forward to Stephen bringing his ideas and momentum to help us improve and compete at all levels of Senior, Youth and Minis rugby for men and women and boys and girls of all ages in accordance with our One Club philosophy.”

Stephen is excited about the journey ahead with HKFC, saying

“I am delighted to be joining Hong Kong Football Club as Director of Rugby at such an exciting time for the Club. Cameron McIntosh and Jack Wiggins leave a fantastic legacy with particular success in the men’s game and I see huge opportunities for growth across both the women’s and youth parts of the Section. I look forward to working with the players, coaches, support staff, and Rugby Section Committee to ensure HKFC continues to excel both on and off the pitch.”
