The three Natixis HKFC Teams in the Grand Championship Finals today have all picked strong squads for their respective fixtures.

The first match sees the Natixis HKFC Sequins play the Combined Discipline Services.  They beat each other once each over the course of the season with the Discipline Services team just winning the league with the Sequins second.  Both games were thrillers with each being decided with the last play of the game.  The Sequins are looking to rectify their Grand Champs heart break from last season when they romped to a league title but then lost to Hong Kong Scottish in their first knock out fixture.

Natixis HKFC Team Manager, Scott Lindsay, commented ‘we most definitely learnt from our Grand Championship naivety last season and we’ve got a strong squad going to Kings Park today.  It’s been tough selecting twenty five players as everyone has come out of the woodwork wanting to play as we have had such an array of payers representing us over the season.  We’ve selected a squad to win though and although they’ll be favourites we think the narrower Kings Park pitch will suit us.’

‘We’ve got a good robust pack of forwards but they’ve got a quick set of backs who’ve caused us a lot of problems in the league.  If our two centres Callum Dunn and Paul Christopher can get some good line speed in defence we should be able to stop their threat.’

Next up are the Natixis HKFC Dragons who play their old foes the Valley Knights.  Last season the Dragons won the league and lost the GC to the Knights.  This season the Knights pipped them to the league and Dragons Head Coach Thierry Barot will be hoping they can take the Grand Final trophy. ‘We’ve had a good season both in terms of developing our young players and now getting to the GC final.  We purposely have had a very slim squad so that we can dovetail in the with the first team which has been challenging at time but this week that relationship has worked well as they’ve helped us prepare.’

‘In terms of the squad, we had a big loss with both Jack Scanlon and Jon Webber injured but Will Mellor, Antonine Duplan and James Mason have recovered in time.’

Finally the Grand Championship experts the Natixis HKFC Bulls have selected a squad that has more Hong Kong internationals in it than will feature in the first grade final.  Natixis HKFC Bulls Team Manager, John Norris , commented ‘we’ve got a massive task to beat the Trimex Typhoons who’ve been exceptional all year and deservedly won the league undefeated but we’ve picked a squad to do the job.’

‘It’s always been the philosophy of the Bulls that yes it’s nice to win the league but it’s all about the big day, the big game and for us we’ve got big game players who know how to bring the big trophy back to number 3 Sports Road.’
