It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Hamish Bowden has passed away after a battle with cancer. He was just 53 years old. “Hamo” represented Hong Kong, China in 15s, 10s and 7s with pride, toughness and humility. On the field, he was a fierce competitor — uncompromising, brave, and deeply committed to his teammates and the shirt. Off the field, he was a true gentleman: kind, generous with his time, and quietly supportive of those around him.

Those who played with or against Hamo will remember not just the way he competed, but the way he carried himself — with integrity, warmth and respect. He embodied the spirit of the Hong Kong rugby community and left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to share a pitch or a beer with him.

Above all else, Hamo was a devoted husband to his wife Mai, and a loving father to his two boys, Isaac and Elias. Our thoughts, love and deepest condolences are with them, and with all of Hamish’s family and friends, at this incredibly difficult time.

Hamo will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in the memories, friendships and values he shared with us all.

Rest easy, Hamo.
