On the 25th of August, HKFC Rugby Section hosted our very first “Discovery Day”, a new initiative dedicated to introducing rugby to children under the age of 7 within the community. 135 enthusiastic kids & their parents turned up for a day that was filled with fun, learning, and unforgettable memories.

Our pro coaches taught our young participants the fundamental techniques of rugby through activities and games in both Cantonese & English. This was all on the backdrop of bouncy castles, face-paint, ice cream & popcorn! The day certainly had something for everyone to enjoy.

Feedback from the parents attending the day was positive all round, with one parent remarking:

“Thanks for having us today! My boy enjoyed it very much and we look forwarding to join[ing] the game [of rugby] soon.”

As a Rugby Section, we’re excited to see how the Discovery Day initiative might grow as we look to introduce rugby to more people within the Hong Kong community.

A big thank you to all the parents, volunteers, and coaches who made this day possible – in particular, extra kudos must go to Ken Leung who has been integral to the planning & organisation of such a successful initiative. His support and enthusiasm was instrumental in making our first Rugby Discovery Day a resounding success.
