On the 8th of December, our U14, U16 & U18 girls headed to King’s Park to take part in the Hysan Youth Girls Finals. Having already won their respective leagues, the girls were hot favourites to take out the Grand Championships too – but faced formidable opponents across the age groups.

In U14, HKFC took on Stingers (a combined Sai Kung Stingrays & USRC Tigers team). Having scored 5 bonus points (for scoring 4 or more tries) in 5 games in the league, they continued in similar fashion – scoring 9 tries to take the GC trophy as well. A big shout-out to Amika Potgieter, who scored 6 of the 9!

In U16, HKFC took on HKU Sandy Bay – who they had only beaten by a mere 2 points in league play. HKFC started strongly, racing into a 17-5 lead by half-time. A very competitive second-half saw Sandy Bay grow into the game to narrow the gap, but HKFC’s resilience saw them come out as winners (FT 36-20).

In U18, HKFC took on a Barbarians team which featured some of the best players across the rest of Hong Kong. The game constantly swung in momentum, with the lead changing hands 5 times – before a brilliant turnover by Olivia McQuhae, led to speedster Sophie Aranha scoring to snatch the win right on full-time (FT 29-24).

With 6 trophies in the cabinet already in the 2024-25 season, we cannot wait for the 7s season and what it has to bring!
