We’re proud to share the success of our first ‘Mum’s Coaching Day’ of the 2024-25 season, held on October 27th. This event sought to celebrate the impact of our mums who have embarked on their coaching journey. Senior women players attended to champion the initiative, creating powerful role models for our youth players.

Under the leadership of Hannah Edwards, our new Head of Women’s Rugby, we’ve implemented several key initiatives since the summer:

• A dedicated WhatsApp community for “Women In Coaching” to connect and share experiences
• Women-focused coaching development sessions in an inclusive environment
• Access to comprehensive coach education programs at HKFC

We have since been able to understand the unique challenges mothers face when entering rugby coaching:

• Learning rugby’s technical aspects
• Building coaching confidence
• Finding their place in the rugby community
• Leveraging their professional and life experiences

At HKFC, we have a strong belief that our mum coaches bring fresh perspectives and valuable skills to the rugby field, enriching our rugby program. We’d encourage any mums considering getting involved to say “yes” as rugby is a place for the whole family!
