This season marks a new chapter for our U12 Boys as we transition from festival-style play to competing in the Richard Hawkes Trophy (RHT). Initiated in 2000 by Kevin Browne, then Chairman of the Hong Kong Mini-Rugby Union, the Richard Hawkes Trophy is a tournament held alongside the mini-rugby festivals, consisting of five rounds with the finals taking place at HKFC.

Richard Neville Hawkes was a respected Hong Kong Chief District Judge and accomplished sportsman who passed away in 2001. Hawkes’s legacy is closely associated with the Club, where he contributed to the development of young players and the local rugby community.

Madison Hunting and Josiah Lewis are great additions as our pro coaches for this season. Madison previously played for Wharfedale RUFC, Leeds Beckett University, and Kalamunda District Rugby Club. Josiah Lewis joined us from New Zealand; he previously played with Greerton Marist, NZ Marist Colts, Bay of Plenty Ngawha, and Cook Islands 7s.

We kicked off the season with friendlies against a resurgent Valley Fort squad.  There player numbers have bounced back which is great news for the competitiveness of our age group.

The U12 age group has a bumper crop of players this season, at almost 50. We welcomed back nearly all the players from last year and are excited about new players such as Elliott L., Josh J., Lev C., Miguel V., Wayne C. and Quinton L.

There is some serious talent here who can play entertaining rugby. We are looking forward to a great season!
